Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior is much more than words or a religious act or ceremony. It is the establishment of an eternal relationship with God the Father through God the Son, Jesus. It is your desire to repent (or be sorry for your sin) and believe that Christ's death on a Cross has paid for your sinfulness, and God has now adopted you as
His Child.
RECOGNIZE that God loves you and has a purpose for your life and a plan for you to possess that purpose. Believe that what the Scriptures state is true.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. –John 3:16
REALIZE that you have sinned and that your sinful nature keeps you separated from God’s purpose for you. This is the state and status of all humanity but God has an answer.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. –Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death. -Romans 6:23
REPENT of your sins. This means that you turn away from your sin and turn to God through Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Jesus Christ has taken the judgment of God for your sin upon Himself at the Cross. Believe it. This is God's provision. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us...Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. –Romans 5:8; Acts 3:19
RECEIVE God’s gift of salvation through His Son. Exercise your faith and believe in His sacrificial love for you. You cannot be good enough to overcome your sin. You must confess Christ and believe He has paid this debt for you. Receive this gift. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved...For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. –Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8
Pray with a Repentant Heart: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. I believe that you died on the cross for my sin, and I believe you were raised from the dead to offer forgiveness to me. I confess that I have sinned and ask you to forgive me. I want to turn from sin and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen."
RESOLVE to follow Jesus Christ by studying His Word, by praying in faith, by fellowship and service with other believers in a local church.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
